Kings County Hospital Center and SUNY Downstate, both at Clarkson Avenue, together employ thousands of nurses, residents, techs and faculty with schedules that don’t run 9-to-5. We know that. Our published hours are Monday through Friday, 8am to 6pm. We won’t tell you we cover an overnight or extended shift, because we don’t, at least not yet. What we can offer is a genuinely well-run daytime program with small ratios and real communication, a short ride from your workplace via the 2/5 to Winthrop Street or the B46 Select Bus Service along Utica Avenue.

We hear from a lot of hospital-adjacent families that the hardest part of shift work isn’t the daycare hours themselves, it’s the unpredictability, a shift that runs long, a schedule that flips week to week. We can’t solve every version of that, but we try to be flexible and communicative around pickup timing wherever we reasonably can, and we’d rather have that conversation honestly with you up front than make a promise we can’t consistently keep.
